Privacy
Last updated:
- What you write and choose here is kept in this device's browser and isn't sent to us.
- There's no account, no server that stores your data, and no analytics or tracking tools.
- A backup file is only made when you save one yourself, and you keep it.
- You can change or delete most of this on the safety plan, check-ins and Settings pages. To remove all of it, clear this site's data in your browser.
Who runs this site
This site is run by 〔operator name and location〕.
For questions about privacy, you can write to us. See "Writing to us" below.
What's stored on this device, and why
The things below are kept in your browser, only so the site works on this device. We can't see them.
- The language and region you chose: to show the right text and your local helplines.
- Whether you closed the notice shown on your first visit: so it doesn't show again.
- Your safety plan and its photos: so you can open it any time.
- Your check-ins (when you made each one and when you last changed it, your mood, any feelings you picked, sleep and what you wrote), and, for the suggestion when moods stay low, when it was last shown and whether it's turned off: to show your check-ins and so the suggestion doesn't appear too often.
- Encouragement lines you chose not to see again: so they don't come back.
- Visit dates (only the day you first opened the home page, the day of your second visit and the most recent day, and no other days): to choose which kind of encouragement line the home page shows.
- Whether the "Add to home screen" suggestion has been shown: it only shows once.
- The "Darker colours late at night" switch: to remember your choice.
- Text size and theme (Light, Dark or System): to remember your choice.
What we don't collect
This site has:
- No account. You don't need to sign up or log in.
- No server that stores your data. The site doesn't send what you write here to us.
- No analytics, ads or tracking tools.
The website host
When you open this site, your browser downloads the pages from the website host.
The website host 〔name and location〕 handles your IP address while the pages are delivered. We haven't turned on access logs; the host may keep this information for a short time under its own policy 〔policy link〕.
Writing to us
This inbox is not a crisis service, and a reply may take a few days. If you're in danger now, or having thoughts of hurting yourself, please don't wait for a reply: call your local emergency number or contact a helpline.
Helplines for each place are on the helplines page. If your area isn't listed, you can search findahelpline.com.
If you write to 〔contact email〕, we receive what you write and your email address, and use them only to reply to you.
Emails are handled by 〔mail provider and location〕 and kept for 〔retention period〕.
Region
Helplines are shown by region. The region is worked out only from this device's time zone, or chosen by you; we don't use your IP address to work out where you are.
You can change your region in Settings at any time.
Backup files
A backup file is only made when you tap "Save a backup file". It's saved where you choose, and you keep it. We don't receive these files.
This site doesn't currently encrypt backup files or the data on this device, so anyone who gets the file or can open this device may be able to read them. Please keep backup files somewhere only you can open.
Seeing, changing and deleting
All of this is on your device, so you can see, change and delete it yourself. Because it isn't with us, we can't see, change or delete it for you.
- See and change it on the safety plan, check-ins and Settings pages.
- "Delete my safety plan" deletes the plan and its photos. "Delete all check-ins" deletes every check-in, plus the record for the suggestion when moods stay low.
- Your browser's option to clear site data deletes everything this site has stored on this device, so save a backup file first. "Delete all check-ins" doesn't remove the visit dates; clearing site data does. You can bring back hidden encouragement lines with "Show hidden lines again" in Settings.
Age
We don't ask for or record your age. This site is mainly designed for people aged 16 and over, and younger people are welcome to use it too; the helplines (including youth lines) are always there.
Your rights and complaints
Depending on the law where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information. The only personal information we hold is any email you've sent us; to see or delete it, write to us. If you're not happy with our reply, you can contact the body for where you live:
